a three dollar, year-long parking sticker? yes, please

first of all, welcome to the start of my blog that hopefully will tell amazing, funny stories about my new journey here in the good ole' stl....i mean, it'll tell stories, just hopefully some awesome ones as i am incredibly excited to start this new adventure.

today i felt like a chicken with my head cut off, but all in a completely good way. after going into the sport information office to see the guys, hang out a little bit, maybe help with some random stuff (and then proceeding to correct mike (asst. sports information director) on how to spell kirksville in the football media guide), daniel (sports information director/my advisor) and i decided to go around campus and run some errands.

errand #1 go get parking sticker...
i learned today that truman really does not want students to park on campus, therefore charging a ridiculous amount for parking stickers. i kinda assumed it was normal amongst other universities to charge this much for parking. pretty sure i paid $100 my last year for my parking sticker (for 2012-2013, truman is charing $105 for resident and commuter stickers). well, at least compared to lindenwood, it's not the norm. for daniel and i COMBINED...a staff sticker and a student parking sticker was $5. his was 2 and mine was 3. i mean seriously, THREE DOLLARS for a parking pass? i will take it! while we were filling out forms, i was abruptly reminded that i don't have my license plate number memorized, nor did we drive my car over there...thanks to mike, i owe him for going outside and looking it up for me. :)

errand #2 find out when i can move into her house
here is where the "running around like a chicken with my head cut off" comes into effect. at lindenwood, doing the early check in for housing is not what i would call a "walk in the park". first, i go to the housing department to talk to whoever could give me an answer on when a fall 1 mba ga can move into her house. the lady that i talked to was super nice and pretty much granted me the ability to move in august 1st....sweet....but not totally granted until i finish getting all of my appropriate "stamps" in my lindenwood housing book. so, i leave the housing department only to go the business office (different building) and have them stamp my book saying that i'm all set and ready for the next semester. after the business office, i'm required by this book to go to financial aid, only for me to have a 20 second conversation with the nice lady that went about like this. fa lady, "all of your financial aid is covered with your ga position..." me, "yup"... fa lady, "here you go, have a nice day." so we waited in line for 10 minutes just for that, but it's done and over with. now tomorrow i'll go back and finish the rest of the book by getting my picture id made along with going to the "work and learn" office only to get a stamp probably for saying that i'm not in the work and learn program. then, after that's done....i believe i end up back in housing to give them this "book". i feel like i'm in the middle of the shryocks callaway farms (awesome, yearly mazes located in callaway county, missouri if you have never been there) where you have to try and find all of the questions in the maze, but they are difficult to find. anyway, hopefully that all gets finished tomorrow and i won't have to deal with it anymore.

okay, i'm now sleepy and have sorta successfully started my new blog. hopefully i will remember to update this about once a week...hopefully is the key word.
